What do people want in a reseller plan?

Hello everyone,
I am thinking of selling reseller plans, and I was wondering, how much space and bandwith is needed? What features you like? What are good pricepace/bandwith?

Well everything matters, but what will you be using your reseller plan for? Reselling or just hosting your own sites etc!

have a look at other reseller site's and make a poll here asking people i would want in a resellers package about 15gb unlimited bandwith and more make some thing that will be attract user's

Is overselling a selling point for some people? Ive been hearing alot about it lately.

We don't offer it as a standard feature, but when requested (which is done by few of our clients), we honor their request.

Yes, overselling is considered to be a positive feature with some looking for reseller packages -
however, there are many reseller shoppers that think this is a huge negative..
All depends which customers you're after I guess...

It is, some resellers are adamant that "overselling enabled" is a must. Funny how most of them wouldn't want their provider to oversell but they're so keen on overselling themselves.
Generally overselling enabled would translate in a higher price... but nowadays there are no standards anymore.

How much space/bandwidth you need depends on the sites you're going to host, you can start with a small package just to host your site and get things going and upgrade to bigger ones as you grow.
From a system admin standpoint I just do not recommend allowing overselling, it can quickly get out of hand especially if you have no account limits.

I personally think that the novelty of unlimited plans is slowly wearing off and shared customers as well as resellers are seeing for themselves that unlimited everything and uncontrolled overselling is not worth giving up reliable & fast servers as well as the need for quality support.
This information comes from reading reviews on wht and personal encounters of clients of mine that have spilled their guts about previous webhost providers.

That's just an illusion Unlimited and mad overselling will always exist in the hosting market. Some people were never thought and some just never learns

For me stability of my provider is my top concern because in the end we are only as good as our providers .

It's definitely a selling point. I think overselling works out great initially, however in the long-term the stability of a server with "oversold" accounts could become a big issue. A few of our clients actually told us their previous host enabled overselling, and after several months of being with this host, their accounts began to slow down dramatically.
So before you come up with the pricing and features of your plans, you really have to do some extensive research. Be careful of what you offer and what price you set. You want to ultimately have a profitable and sustainable business.

Also, I have an advice. When you are deciding your pricing, think about your prices as a dedicated server not a reseller.
Suppose, it prices you 3$ to support each client per month (including your support prices) as a reseller. Don't price your plans at 5$ in this case.
Think, when you get a dedicated server, you have to use the same plans. Will you be able to buy a managed Xenon server & you support, billing software, hire staf and still have profits left with this pricing?
Price your plans wisely, think of every aspect. Concentrate on Quality & not Quantity.

If you are serious about your business....... You may also want to go for the reseller provider who also provide dedicated servers....... One day you will have to upgrade from ........... Reseller Package to your own dedicated box........ Maybe 1 or 2 year down the line ......... depending upon your business.
This is the hard lesson I learnt from my experience.

Let me put it this way.
If a webhosting company has good solid pricing and doesn't oversell its resources, it would have no issue at all in allowing its resellers to oversell if they want. This is of course because the maximum a reseller could do by overselling his resources is use up everything allocated to him, which is what the host has planned for.
However, it is dangerous for an overselling host to allow their resellers to oversell. It is only going to lead to higher problems, abuse cases and resource saturation, resulting in poor performance and uptime.
What do people look in for a reseller? I'd say customers are increasingly looking for reseller plans with reliable companies that offer the ability to sell both windows and linux as well as other value-added features.
