Migrating service for Hostopia?

Posted by cornflakes, 04-04-2005, 03:59 AM
Hi everyone, Can someone help out with a reseller of mine? I'm cutting back on my hosting business to focus on some other projects, and a reseller of mine is going to switch over to Hostopia. He only has 17 sites so Hostopia won't migrate for him. Basically he needs help with: FTP transfer (download from my server, upload to Hostopia) Mail migration (transfer existing messages on old server to new server) Little things here and there to make sure things migrate smoothly. The websites are currently in H-Sphere, while mail accounts are hosted separately on a Qmail/Vpopmail server. Is there a company you can recommend that have experiencing migrating to different services that can help? Thanks!

If you mean other hosting companies that will do this you might want to contact http://www.diyhosting.com - I believe they do Hsphere and I would imagine they would be very helpful with migrations although I don't know this forsure.

Thanks for the response, Lubby. Actually I'm currently with DIY Hosting, but my reseller is moving to Hostopia. I don't think DIY will help with migrating out. I found a company called websitemovers.com which a lot of people on here have mentioned but no real reviews. I guess I'm looking for a company like that.

ok, I see what you mean now. You might want to post a thread in the employment offers/requests section and see if you can find someone to do it for a reasonable rate. Their are lots of talented people on this forum.

Try submitting an employment request here, quick $10 for the job or something. You should get a response within minutes.

Let me just say DIY Hosting is great, and I'm not leaving them. I am in fact dropping a pretty annoying reseller who bothers me about 10 times a day with questions ranging from how to purchase a new computer to how to fix his printer (he calls asking a stupid bogus question about web hosting like creating fictional email accounts that he doesn't use as an excuse to call, then he goes "by the way" and starts asking unrelated questions). He's also got temper issues which I am not willing to deal with. I wouldn't want to unleash him on DIY Hosting because I like those guys too much. He also likes Hostopia's size and the fact that they run on clustered/high-availability servers. So this is why I'm kicking him out, and pushing him towards Hostopia. But, being the nice guy that I am, I want to make sure his transition is going to be as smooth as possible, so that's why I'm here looking for suggestions. So, no, this has nothing to do with DIY Hosting! It's about a very annoying reseller!

As far as I know. Hostopia would assist on migration process, but I don't think they would accept *only* 17 sites, since their minimum commitment is $450 monthly. So I wonder how do you think you or your customer can achive this...
