Is 800hosting down?

My server and all of my clients are inaccessible and so is their website! Anyone else experiencing this? help! www.800hosting.com

Ok. their site is up now but my server is still down! calling them! UPDATE: Their message says they are experiencing "network" latency as of 9:53 CT January 27, 2008. This sounds like more than latency! When I can't contact my server at all!

Just talked to support. Apparently they're being ddos'd. 1800hosting's entire network is down. Wow! This sucks!

yeah, THEIR website is online but my entire server is down! They can't even give me at an ETA on when things will get back up. This sucks!

No luck with Live chat. All I got was a Hello from John. Could it be automated? How can my entire server be down a whole hour and a half and I have no ETA despote my phone call and support ticket? This really stinks! I may have to reconsider my choice of dedicated server providers after this incident.

DDoS is a tricky thing. Sometimes if the target host cannot be pulled offline it might be almost impossible to stop it without the proper hardware. Which means it might take time, and in the worst case you will need to wait for the attack to stop. Not saying that is good though, 800hosting should be able to act upon this. By either nullrouting or having some kind of filter. Or possibly by just having enough excess bandwith for the attack not to disrupt the normal traffic.

Well, my server was down for several hours yesterday. After almost 3 hours I gave up and went to bed since I had to be up early this morning. Still, not a single response to my ticket or acknowledgment from 800hosting. Their homepage states “PROACTIVE” client communication is the heart of our Total Service Commitment. I realize they couldn't inform me proactively in this case, but they never reached out to me, a client, during the occurrence and until now I have heard zilch, despite my ticket. I am very disappointed as I usually recommend 800hosting but at this point I'm not sure if I can continue doing so. -Disappointed.
