Can OnApp use more CPU core for a VM then a node have

Hi We are looking at the moment for a cloud solution where we can have a virtual machine witch is using more CPU Power and RAM then a node can have. The VM should be able to take cpu and ram resources from more then one hardware node. An example, we have 5 hardware nodes with each 2x Quadcore. Can one VM use 20 cores? Or is 8 core max? Is OnApp able to do this or are there any other cloud solutions which can do this? Thanks Michael

Hello Michael At the moment that is not possible, you are limited by the size of one node, the way to grow beyond it is to use the API and build functionality into the App to utilise horizontal scaling. We are thinking with RDMA and hope to make it possible to do so one day.

Thanks for the information and also for the link. I'm surprised that this is not existing yet. In this case I don't see the advantages of cloud anymore. What is the reason to invest in a cloud solution if you don't get more as a dedicated server at the end?

Isn't 3Tera/AppLogic able to do this?
