I just checked by sending a test mail to my hotmail account but the mail wasn't recd. so I checked the mail queue manager in WHM and the hotmail related mails were not traced.
plz guide me on how I can overcome this problem, I can send mail to hotmail if they are bouncing but when I don't find in the queue , what can I mail about them , when they ask an error id

Hello,
Do you have an rDNS (reverse dns) setup on the mail server?

usual stuff..chek for spf, rdns and domainkeys for your domain
Also conform if the domain is blacklisted with hotmail, there should be a returned mail from hotmail, if they are being rejected

Check for the mail logs using the command
The mails send should get logged in it.
Once you get the message id you can see the status of that mail by using the command

Try to rebuild the exim database.
You can check the details from here

I second this. SPF/DK/RDNS are going to be the major players here. A lot of ISP's will reject/queue mail if the RDNS isn't properly set up.

Did you have checked your ip is not been blacklisted in any database?
If it is then the mails sent to hotmail account might be going to the junk folder of the hotmail account.

I have checked in DSNBL its safe in all
senderbase doesn't show a proper report, reputation report is neutral
spf, rdns, domainkeys are already set
yah, I just tried to send a mail manually to hotmail and it got rejected, and this was the msg:
I am trying to send mail to SENDERID dept with SPF records
emails are sent properly to all other domains except hotmail and live, so I guess it has to do something with the hotmail only. My personal account is on live, so I think I have to contact them now via live account.
I got a doubt, I had sent mail to : check-auth@verifier.port25.com to verify authentication and I got these results:
I don't see any where the meaning for ham to b listed in the mail in which the automated reply was recd
they had given only for following details:

Your ip address might blacklisted by hotmail due to spam issues.

Pulled from http://owahab.com/content/delivering...oo-and-hotmail
Additionally, I found this:
http://windowslivehelp.com/community/t/25409.aspx
Your domain/IP may have succumbed to an auto-ACL, which would require contacting MS/Live to have it corrected. You could also try configuring Exim to listen on a different IP if you have the resources and ability to make such a change. Be sure to make a backup of exim.conf if you intend to try this.

The security tools in MSN is very strong . They will block the IPs if you aren't sending mails properly . Are you still facing issue with sending mails to hotmail. If yes, the try to change the exim outgoing IP and correct the rdns. Check this tread http://24x7servermanagement.com/blog/?p=23

the prob is solved finally, had to send mails to their sender id dept then had to update SPF as they requested it. I will post a tutorial later on how to solve the prob with hotmail's as they have given me clear instructions

Are your messages being blocked and bouncing back to you or are they going into the Junk folder?
|
Posted by pueblosnet, 03-09-2011, 04:49 PM |
They are blocked and returned. Actually I changed the IP that exim uses and are sending ok. What it's not logical it's that the main ip it's not listed anywhere.

Yeah, we recently went through a similar problem with Hotmail. Use the this form to contact them, they will whitelist your IP address:
https://support.msn.com/eform.aspx?p...sbl&ct=eformts
That's the only way if they have blocked your IP...
