Frontpage Extensions error
Posted by ResellerPlanet, 08-31-2005, 05:57 PM |
Hello,
Since recently, my customers are getting the following error when they try to upload their website using Frontpage:
"406 Not Acceptable
Not Acceptable An appropriate representation of the requested resource /_vti_bin/_vti_aut/author.exe could not be found on this server. Apache/1.3.33 Server at www.thevintagepanda.com Port 80 "
Any idea what is happening? :\
Thanks alot!

if it worked before i would reinstall frontpage extensions,
I had some clients who could not use extensions a a directadmin server - found it was a known issue and had to move to cpanel server to get the extensions to work

Reinstall Extensions, and try again

Yeah we already tried that, but that didn't work...

It looks like frontpage files are missing according to the error. Did you uninstall frontpage extensions, then cleanup old files, then reinstall extensions? That would be the process to do in that specific account's CPanel.

I second this suggestion. I had the same thing happen to me and this was the reslolution.

Unfortunately, if this is happening on multiple accounts, it's going to be very time consuming.

Nope that still doesn't work... The files are still missing when I do that. I already "upgraded" cPanel to a later version (from the CURRENT tree instead of RELEASE tree) but that didn't help either. Any other ideas?

Nobody? Any other places I could look for help?

The author.exe is in the virtual directory, not the webspace itself. So just reinstalling the FP extensions in the webspace isn't going to solve the problem. See http://www.microsoft.com/resources/d...oc/ows000.mspx for help finding and fixing the author.exe
